Welcome! I am currently an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Curriculum & Instruction. As a learning scientist, I research how learning works and how we can make it happen more deeply and effectively.

My group's research examines the ideas and values that undergird science teaching and learning, and how to design and support science learning environments that center values of care and justice. We also work on developing research methods that center these values.

New Projects!

We recently had two new projects funded:

  • A school-university partnership for building elementary preservice teachers' culturally sustaining science practices
    ​
  • Establishing a community-based curriculum materials collaborative for health justice science education 

These projects will support us in building local partnerships to improve culturally sustaining and justice-oriented science education.
